Freediving is about inward power, discipline, and control. If you’ve always wanted to enter the underwater world quietly on your own terms staying as long as your breath allows, then freediving is for you. For me, this discipline carries a deeper purpose. I attended Christopher Columbus High School, an all-boys Catholic school here in Miami, FL that has always placed a strong emphasis on community, character, and giving back. A few years ago, the school set out to create a Freediving Club to bring safety, education, and awareness to the next generation of divers. When they approached me to ask if I offered any courses, I immediately went and earned my PADI instructor certification so I could return to my alma mater and donate my time to teach the boys. What started as a way to serve my school became a mission to make freediving safer, more accessible, and rooted in proper technique and respect for the ocean.
